Jenks High running back Darwin Thompson had an abbreviated junior year last year, but that didn’t stop him from putting up some impressive numbers. In four games, he rushed for 320 yards, but he had to sit out the rest of the season due to injury.
“Last season was a preview of what’s to come. My season was cut short with a concussion. I only played four games. This year will be the breakout,” Thompson said.
The 5-foot-8, 180-pound senior-to-be has athleticism and many of the intangibles to play at the next level.
“I’m an explosive player, always looking to make a big play. I’ve become more disciplined going through team camps, letting plays develop. I’m the guy to let everyone know what we need to do to be successful on the field,” he said.
Thompson has been in touch with a few programs, including Missouri State.
“I know very little about Missouri State. They have offered a good friend of mine, our starting receiver, Carson Epps,” he said.
Thompson will likely hear more from his Missouri State and others if his numbers hold up or improve from last year. The all-purpose back runs a 4.49-forty, has a 37 inch vertical, benches 330 pounds, cleans 330 pounds and squats 610 pounds.
